It's a SAm Disk image for use with the SAM emulator (http://www.simcoupe.org/). You can also write SAD back to a floppy for use with a real SAM, if you still have one. Grab the latest emulator beta from: http://tinyurl.com/4gko4 and you'll be able to double-click the .SAD file to boot it. Gimme a shout off the list if you need any help with it - the docs still need some work ;-) Si From owner-sam-users@nvg.ntnu.no Tue Aug 31 12:55:05 2004 Received: from esealnt619.al.sw.ericsson.se (esealnt619.al.sw.ericsson.se [153.88.254.112]) by edh3.edh.ericsson.se (8.9.1/8.9.1/eri-dom-1.0) with ESMTP id MAA27518 for ; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:55:02 +0200 (MET DST) Received: from esealnt611.al.sw.ericsson.se ([153.88.254.68]) by esealnt619.al.sw.ericsson.se with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.0); Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:54:57 +0200 Received: from alaska.ericsson.se (alaska.al.sw.ericsson.se [193.180.251.35]) by esealnt611.al.sw.ericsson.se with SMTP (Microsoft Exchange Internet Mail Service Version 5.5.2657.72) id R87C0N2F; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:54:56 +0200 Received: from sabre-wulf.nvg.ntnu.no (sabre-wulf.nvg.ntnu.no [129.241.210.67]) by alaska.ericsson.se (8.12.10/8.12.10/WIREfire-1.8b) with ESMTP id i7VAsuD6011634 for ; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:54:56 +0200 (MEST) Received: (root@sabre-wulf.nvg.ntnu.no) by sabre-wulf.nvg.ntnu.no id ; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:52:07 +0200 Received: from sabre-wulf.nvg.ntnu.no ([129.241.210.67]:46777 "EHLO grey.nvg.ntnu.no" ident: "[mXOqmq150x9nUHmU6VM2hbeOWFrWW+SI]" whoson: "-unregistered-") by sabre-wulf.nvg.ntnu.no with ESMTP id ; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:51:47 +0200 Received: from W2K-CSSM02.essent.nl (wc-87.r-195-35-162.essentkabel.com [195.35.162.87]) by grey.nvg.ntnu.no (Postfix) with ESMTP id 696B6947B3 for ; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:51:27 +0200 (CEST) Received: from nt-exch10.essent.nl (unverified [145.46.80.182]) by W2K-CSSM02.essent.nl (Content Technologies SMTPRS 4.3.14) with ESMTP id for ; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:53:21 +0200 Received: by nt-exch10.global with Internet Mail Service (5.5.2657.72) id ; Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:53:54 +0200 Message-ID: <8752C95E027AD611BECC0002A541D14C119BABAE@nt-exch14.global> From: "Versteeg, Benjamin" To: "'sam-users@nvg.ntnu.no'" Subject: RE: Help Date: Tue, 31 Aug 2004 12:53:46 +0200 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Internet Mail Service (5.5.2657.72) Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" X-MailScanner-Information: Please contact the ISP for more information X-MailScanner: Found to be clean X-Envelope-To: <"|/local/lib/majordomo/wrapper resend -p bulk -M 10000 -l sam-users -f owner-sam-users -h nvg.ntnu.no sam-users-outgoing"> (uid 0) Sender: owner-sam-users@nvg.ntnu.no Precedence: bulk Reply-To: sam-users@nvg.ntnu.no X-OriginalArrivalTime: 31 Aug 2004 10:54:57.0007 (UTC) FILETIME=[F42AA7F0:01C48F48] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.63 (2004-01-11) on edh3 X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-4.9 required=5.0 tests=BAYES_00 autolearn=ham version=2.63 X-Spam-Level: Status: RO > You can also write SAD back to a floppy for use > with a real SAM, if you still have one. Two or 3 Sam's are sold for little more than 100 GBP during the last weeks. Will the price ever get higher? Or are not only the Sam itself, but also the people who know of it existance getting rare :) Ben ---- This message is confidential and may be privileged. It was the biggest show, of its type, in the UK last year. As it is being advertised and mentioned in Retro Gamer we expect it to be a bigger show this year. ORSAM 2004 is a Sinclair & clones computer show, as this year the QL, Z88 & ZX81 are also covered. While we are filling up I am looking for more SAM stalls. This years show will be held on Saturday, 6th November from 10am to 4pm, (traders one hour either side of that). The venue, as last year, will be held at the Alex Bussey Scout Centre in Norwich, off Rowington Road, Norwich NR1 3RR. Traders stalls will be free, entrance is free to visitors and there is ample parking space near by, which is also free. Rowington Road is near the centre of Norwich, handy for busses, trains, coach and air port. The show will be opened by the Lord Mayor. Please could you pass on through your channels news of this show, so that the attendance will be good. Would you like to give a talk, or know anyone else who would? There will be an official dinner after the show, attendance is optional, venue not yet decided. You could have multiple programs resident, but only one would be able to get access to the screen at a time. Not sure if the others got any CPU time even - although there may have been tricks you could pull with interrupts. But it's a long time since I did any DRiVER programming... FWIW, SamMines (eventually on Fred 57) was in fact originally going to be a driver application, although for various reasons I ended up making it stand-alone (and coding half a WIMP system in the process). You could have multiple programs resident, but only one would be able

FWIW, SamMines (eventually on Fred 57) was in fact originally going to

There were a set of hooks which you could call from machine code. If you look at FRED issues around the time Driver itself came out - I guess that means around numbers 30 to 40 or so - the machine/code column was all documentation of the API.
